16 TONS: Jeff Beck, ZZ Top Turn YouTube Joke Into Reality

Now Jeff Beck and ZZ Top really have teamed up on Tennessee Ernie Ford's classic, "16 Tons."  Their performance at their recent Los Angeles concert got posted on YouTube recently, and that's pretty appropriate - considering YouTube is where the concept originated.

"The Los Angeles Times" says a fabricated YouTube performance inspired the collaborative country cover of the Ernie Ford classic.  The 2012 clip was created from footage of Jeff and the band performing ZZ Top's "Rough Boy" at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 25th anniversary concert, which was spliced together to look like they're playing "16 Tons."  ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons says he just saw the video as evidence of "someone who obviously had too much time on his hands."  But Jeff thought it was something they could actually do together on their co-headlining tour. The rest is history...

Beck and ZZ Top's trek continues through mid September.
