The Ides of March are heading east! Chicago's homegrown rockers, best known for the brassy '70s smash "Vehicle," open a three-day run Thursday at the multi-state New England fair The Big E in West Springfield, Massachusetts. Lead singer Jim Peterik, one of four originals still in the band, is excited about these shows, as well as their Tuesday night gig at B.B. King's in New York.
Though some fans label The Ides of March one-hit wonders, the band, which will mark its 50th anniversary in 2014, enjoyed several other regional hits. One of those, "You Wouldn't Listen," went Top 10 in Chicago and got airplay in many big cities, including New York and Philadelphia, but fell two spots shy of cracking Billboard's Top 40. And Peterik, who later co-founded Survivor, has also co-written with several other important artists.
