For the second day in a row, Paul McCartney played a surprise afternoon concert in New York.
Thursday's show was on a truck in Times Square in front of thousands who'd gathered as word spread around the city and through social media, started by a tweet from Paul. Calling Times Square the "village square," he did four songs off of his forthcoming album, New, in stores next Tuesday. He played the title track, followed by "Save Us," "Everybody Out There" and the live premiere of "Queenie Eye."
Paul, who arrived with his band in a taxi, joked that he'd "put a hat out as we're basically busking." He could couldn't perform more than four songs because they only had 15 minutes to play, which led him to say, "Mr. Andy Warhol predicted I would get 15 minutes of fame. This is it."
